Microneedling - Collagen Induction Therapy
Microneedling is a procedure designed to enhance and improve the complexion.
It activates the body’s natural regenerative process to stimulate the skins own collagen synthesis.
Tiny needles are used to penetrate the top layer of the skin vertically. These micro punctures cause localised and controlled damage without effecting the epidermis.
This initialises the skin regeneration and as a result skin rejuvenation and renewal.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling is an extremely safe and reliable procedure that has been used for many years and is now growing in popularity.
Using a professional microneedling machine, microscopic microchannels are created into the skin to which stimulate the outer most layers of the skin. This stimulation will aid the natural healing process which results in the body producing more collagen and elastin fibers. These Microchannel are known as controlled trauma.
The bodies response to the controlled trauma caused is to produce more collagen and elastin. This response results skin that looks and feels more plump with less fine lines and wrinkles.
What Is Microneedling Used For?
Microneedling can be used to treat acne scarring, minimise the appearance of wrinkles areas of pigmentation, visible pores and improve the texture of the skin.
Microneedling can also be used on the body.
When Will I See The Results Of Microneedling Treatment?
Please be aware the effects of Microneedling are not visible immediately after the treatment as the body needs time to produce collagen, however you will see an improvement from two weeks and continue over the following months up to a year.
A course of three skin needling treatments are recommended for best results four to six weeks apart. You may be recommended to use a home treatment programme in order to maximise results.
Is There Down Time After Microneedling?
Yes. The skin may appear red/flushed looking immediately after treatment.
Any redness on the skin should dissipate 6-8hrs post treatment.
Bruising is rare after microneedling but not unheard off, although precaution is taken to avoid bruising it can happen with advanced treatments such as microneedling.
